17th World Congress of IUAES 2013

The 17th World Congress of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences IUAES 2013) will be hosted by the University of Manchester, Manchester (UK) on August 5th-August 10th, 2013. The IUAES congress is held after every four years. The theme of the presentCongress is “Evolving Humanity, Emerging Worlds”.The International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences (IUAES) which is holding this congress is a global organization, founded in 1948, with the objective of advancement of the discipline of anthropology.The congress has been grouped under different sections known as tracks; each one of them has numerous panels with many oral and poster presentations. The tracks include Being Human (BH), Life and Death (LD), Producing the Earth (PE), Survival and Extinction (SE), The World of the Mind and the Mind in the World (WMW), Movement, Mobility, and Migration (MMM), General (G), Museum Anthropology (M) andVisual Anthropology (V).The opening keynote lecture of the congress, entitled “The Wenner-Gren Foundation and the Past, Present and Future of Anthropology” will be delivered by Leslie Aiello, President of the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research. The other plenary lectures include a Firth Lecture by AchilleMbembe, from the University of Witwatersrand and the Royal Anthropological Institute’s Huxley Lecture by Howard Morphy, from the Australian National University. Scholars from all over the world are expected to participate in this mega event. We expect that IUAES2013 comes out with challenging agenda for the anthropologists for future research and wish the congress a grand success.
